Electric Feel

I had the luxury of having the national Nike US Open of Surfing being hosted locally in my nearby town of Huntington Beach (otherwise known as, Surf City!)  Although I had arrived late into Day 8 (of 9) in hopes of attending the MGMT (preceded by Surfer Blood) hosted right there on the beach!

By the the time we arrived, 2:30PM, people were already waiting for the concert, even though it wouldn't start until 4:30PM! Determined to get a good spot of my favorite band, my friends and I decided to actually stand in the sun and wait. Even though it sounds horrible, it was all worth it.

The vibes were pretty chill and relaxed. We were lucky to be in such a cultural hotspot! We were surrounded by dozens of cool people just like us! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Literally, it felt like yesterday was the day my life began LOL.

By the time the bands got on everyone was pretty into it & vibin` with the beats. There were 300+ people there! It was madness. Even though it was mostly sticky, being in the 80-90 weather in a huuge crowd of half naked beach-goers, we had a blast LOL.

Mosh pits were repeatedly forming and crowd surfers were coming up and falling down at every angle
One of my friends even lost her sandal navigating through the sea of people! We saw some sketchy things but were also able to meet and chill with dozens of nice & awesome people. It was like being in a movie LOL. I feel like everything is so surreal and I have no sense of what is real life anymore!

People were throwing shoes everywhere & hitting beach balls around. Every now and then someone would start a pushing session and it was like we were on some ride rather than ground level! Crowd surfers were constantly being dropped(on my friend especially HAHA) and mosh pits would randomly start. News helicopters were constantly flying above us and the local police were all alarmed & waiting for any sign of mayhem LOL.

Sensational, this official photo from US Open of Surfing Day 8 totally gives me the chills.
To know that somewhere in that photo is my head, is awes-trucking.
I'm closer to the stage than you think.
