I wrote this along time ago, but never posted it up

Everyday, we face different events in our lives. Whether these events are big or small, good or bad, we take them as they come. Keeping this in mind, people all around the world take any hardships or blessings no matter what situation they are in, especially unfortunate. These, people are the ones that can truly inspire me. My heart is always heavy, thinking about the other people and children that over come these struggles everyday, just for basic necessities. The basic things that you, and I, take forgranted. I can remember all of the times I have complained about how my parents don’t get me, or how stupid something was & how so many of us complain about how a certain thing isn’t working for us. Day by day, I am getting more aware that these things aren’t ONE bit as bad as we say or think. To have the privilege of going online to complain about these things at all, is way more of a blessing then we know. Especially, compared to the sadness and tragedy of other things, for example the recent Haiti earthquake. Haiti, once a country as hopeful and wonderful as any other, is now in shatters. There are countless children, our age and younger, wandering the streets with, almost no hope left. Many have lost their lives, families, and homes. The irony is that these people never knew they would be in the situation less than two weeks ago. They never knew such basic things would be so rare all of a sudden. They never expected that they would be desperately searching their streets for the things they possibly taken forgranted before. Knowing this, I couldn’t help but imagine if something so terrible, all of a sudden, were to happen to us, here in the United States. What would you have regretted? What would be your last words? With these thoughts, I couldn’t stand seeing my peers complain about how their “computers lag so much” or how much they hate their parents and what not- especially because if something were to hit us tragically, they would all definitely take back those words. I’m not saying that I am some kind of saint or something either, but I’m just saying that it should be something that all of us should consider the next time we have an urge to be wasteful or complain about a certain thing. Like that saying goes, “We don’t know what we have until it is gone”, most of us really don’t, so, as the smart people we are, let’s try to know how good ANYTHING is, so it we won’t have regrets as if it’s gone..Also, another thing to really consider is the fact that our parents have risked so much for us to be here in the United states, well most of us at least. We have so many oppurtunities for our futures and I find it so dumb to just throw our parents' hard work away. I mean, if we're smart enough to figure out how to get revenge on a persn that "backstabbed" you, I'm sure youre smart enough to know that we have this very big future ahead of us. If you can think, take advantage of that fact.
